Akeredolu Returns to Office, Pledges to Serve Full Term
Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has officially resumed his duties after a three-month medical leave, assuring the people that he is back and committed to completing his term in good health. The governor held meetings with key stakeholders in Ondo State at his residence in Ibadan, where he touched down upon his return.
These meetings included discussions with members of the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, National Assembly members, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Working Committee. Various youth groups, former Local Government chairpersons, and members of the Foundation of Wives of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO) also visited the governor during his stay in Ibadan.
In an official statement, Governor Akeredolu formally handed over his resumption letter to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Olamide, and provided a copy to Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who had been Acting Governor in his absence.
The governor expressed gratitude for the prayers and support he received during his medical leave and assured the people that he is back to work. He vowed to continue serving Ondo State diligently and complete his full tenure.
However, the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the governor for not returning directly to Ondo State upon his recovery, claiming that this action showed disrespect to the people who had prayed for him. The PDP alleged that Governor Akeredolu had relocated the government and State Assembly to Ibadan.
In response, the Ondo APC defended the governor’s decision, characterizing the PDP’s criticism as lacking constructive input and being crude in its approach to issues. The APC maintained that the governor’s visit to Ibadan was to meet enthusiastic party leaders who voluntarily wished to welcome him back to Nigeria and show their support.
As Governor Akeredolu resumes his official duties, the focus will be on how his administration addresses the challenges facing Ondo State and works toward its continued development.
