Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to school principals in the state, declaring that any involvement in cult activities will result in immediate dismissal. The governor emphasized that schools in the state should be centers for quality education, not breeding grounds for cultism.
Governor Fubara made this announcement during the commissioning of the remodeled Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borikiri, in Port Harcourt. He expressed his commitment to providing world-class educational facilities that inspire teachers to excel in their mission of educating students. The governor believes that education is the foundation for development and growth.
While acknowledging that the school renovation project had been initiated by his predecessor, Governor Fubara emphasized that his administration had ensured its completion using taxpayers’ money for the benefit of the people of Rivers State.
He urged school authorities to take measures to secure the facility, while also encouraging students to dedicate more time to their studies to excel in their chosen careers.
Governor Fubara declared, “Any principal found to be associated with cultism will be dismissed from service.”
The commissioning of the remodeled school was met with praise from Chief Onueze Okocha, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, who commended Governor Fubara’s administration for the transformation of the school with quality structures and learning facilities.
The remodeled Government Comprehensive Secondary School now boasts administrative offices, science and agriculture laboratories, an Information Communication Technology center, a library, a 24-classroom block, a 500-capacity multipurpose hall, and a sports complex, according to Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Chinedum Mmom.
Dr. Nobel Abe, President of the school’s Old Boys Association, expressed gratitude to the state government for responding to their requests and refurbishing the school to create a fitting learning institution.
