Federal Government to Construct 7,000 Houses in Conflict-Affected Northern States
The Federal Government, under the approval of President Bola Tinubu, is embarking on an ambitious project to build 7,000 houses in several northern states affected by conflict and banditry. These states include Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and Benue. The initiative aims to provide housing and support to communities grappling with the devastating impact of violence and insecurity.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, made this announcement during the commissioning of projects executed by the Borno State government. Shettima revealed that President Tinubu has allocated N50 billion to kick-start the Pulaku initiative, which is a non-kinetic solution to the crisis plaguing the northwest region.
The construction project encompasses the building of 1,000 houses in each of the following states: Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Benue. These houses will be equipped with essential facilities such as schools, clinics, veterinary clinics, and ranches to support the Fulani community. Importantly, in Kaduna and Benue, the rehabilitation efforts will prioritize the inclusion of all victims affected by the conflicts.
Shettima also assured Nigerians that President Tinubu is deeply committed to addressing the challenges confronting the nation and improving the lives of its citizens. He highlighted the President’s empathy for the less privileged and his unwavering determination to effect positive change in the country.
The Vice President emphasized that in the coming weeks and months, the government will unveil numerous projects and programs aimed at benefiting people across the country. He reaffirmed President Tinubu’s dedication to enhancing the nation’s welfare and resolving pressing issues.
