Niger Delta Minister Seeks Wisdom from Jonathan and Dokubo to Combat Oil Theft
The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has embarked on a mission to tackle the pervasive issue of crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region. In his quest for effective solutions, he engaged in crucial consultations with two influential figures: former President Goodluck Jonathan and prominent Ijaw leader Asari Dokubo.
Momoh stressed the urgency of addressing crude oil theft, emphasizing its detrimental impact on Nigeria’s oil production. During his meeting with Jonathan, the minister not only sought advice on combating this menace but also tapped into the former President’s wealth of experience to discuss infrastructural development and employment opportunities for the region’s youth.
Expressing his appreciation, Momoh commended Jonathan’s wisdom and generosity, acknowledging the former President’s unwavering dedication to the betterment of the Niger Delta.
In a separate meeting with Asari Dokubo, the former Niger Delta agitator expressed his commitment to supporting the minister in his role. He lauded Momoh’s dedication to addressing the region’s infrastructural deficits and called on Niger Deltans to rally behind the minister to ensure successful outcomes.
Dokubo also called upon President Bola Tinubu to investigate the alleged misappropriation of N600 billion allocated to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development. He claimed that the former Attorney General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Mallami, had redirected these funds to projects unrelated to the Niger Delta, sparking the need for immediate corrective action to channel resources back into the region’s development.
