Police Swiftly Restore Peace at Garki Market, Abuja
In a rapid response to a brewing conflict, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully diffused a potentially volatile situation at Garki market in Abuja, averting any disruption of the neighborhood’s tranquility.
The intervention came after an altercation erupted involving market traders and several individuals, including a member of the Department of State Services (DSS) and a tailor named Muhammad Habibu. During the confrontation, gunshots were fired at one individual, Mubarak Mubarak, and a portion of the market’s police outpost suffered damage.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, confirmed that the weapons used in the incident have been recovered, and peace has been fully restored to the area.
Commissioner Garba also issued a plea to the market’s occupants, urging them to refrain from engaging in any activities that could jeopardize public property, especially facilities belonging to the security agencies responsible for maintaining their safety.
